The beginning of the Next:Gen Crew dates back to 2016, when it was founded by DJ/producer Critical J and MC/promoter Jelen. Shortly thereafter, the first members joined, including Slovak producer and DJ Matzet, DJ Rocki, and MC Brejchus Pavián, along with the Upfockerz project and Slovak DJ and producer Tajfun.

At the start of Next:Gen Crew's activities, the main goal was to connect artists with the same or similar mindset and musical taste. Another aim was to bring a fresh and distinctive vibe to the then almost uniform Czech DNB scene, to support young DJs and MCs, and gradually begin organizing their own music events.

Over nearly 10 years of existence, the group has grown to include many members. Some of them have gradually become significant figures on the Czech music scene, setting trends across genres. A year after its founding, the crew expanded to include producer and DJ Magenta, who is currently considered one of the top artists on both the Czech and international DNB scene.

In 2018, the crew welcomed leaders of the Czech grime scene, namely MCs and rappers Rook from the Pardubice-based group Rook’s Squad and Malej Zmrd a.k.a. Pain from the Prague- based crew DOTS, who have since been regularly performing at DNB events. Another significant milestone in Next:Gen Crew's history came in 2019 with the establishment of the music label Next:Gen Audio, which releases tracks not only from the crew's members but also from numerous domestic and international producers.

Over the years, the crew's lineup has crystallized into its current composition, consisting of 16 active members – 10 DJs/producers and 6 MCs. Additionally, the crew has been actively organizing its own label nights at Prague's Cross Club from the very beginning, the established Addictive Beats party at Boss Bar in Poděbrady, and plans to spread its sound to other clubs across the Czech Republic.
